Honors Study Abroad Trip in London

"Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward. For there you have been and there you will always long to return." - Leonardo da Vinci
Traveling the world is more than a privilege, more than a vacation. Traveling gives you insight into perspectives that one could never imagine on their own. The memories discovered around the world shape who you are forever and create a new way of thinking. Once you travel, you can become so much more; a story-teller, a wanderer, a doer, a changer, an innovator.
My Academic Story
You see, I have never been outside the United States; in fact, I have hardly been outside of Texas. However, in my time here I have worked hard to grow and learn as much as I possibly can. In high school, I was in the National Honor Society and that lead me to making the President's List here at UNT in my first semester with a 4.0 GPA. I work hard and study hard. I have a job workin
g with at-risk kids after school, tutoring them and giving them a sense of community to keep them in school and on the path to greater education and a better life. Once I graduate I am considering attending graduate school, but I know with certainty that I want to teach.
All of this, however, will never give me the same experience as studying abroad. Aside from experiencing new cultures and meeting people with different backgrounds, this trip is a chance to further my education. I will be taking HNRS 4000, a course all about gaining global perspectives and expanding my mind through the experiences I have while in London. Our travels will be reflected and built upon in the classroom while in London and I will be able to have numerous unforgettable experiences.
My Trip Abroad
This is the brochure for the trip with all sorts of information including the syllubus which outlines the trips and lessons we will be having. Trips include a showing at the Globe Theater, Tours of historical places that are even older then the US itself and so much more.

Here is a description of the course I will be taking on my Study abroad trip:
"Global Perspectives in London (HNRS 4000)
We live in a world that is connected in myriad ways, including communication technology, trade, production, travel, and education. Political, economic, and cultural events affect all of us in important ways. This course allows you to develop knowledge about important international issues and see them from a number of perspectives. Rather than
weeks of lectures and discussions, you will be learning on the go as you experience one of the world’s greatest cities."

How You Can Help
The reason I am asking you to donate today is simple; this trip is incredibly important to me but also incredibly expensive. For 3 weeks in London, tuition, flights, books, a passport, housing, and all of the other expenses add up fast to over $6,000. This is on top of my expenses for the regular academic terms that my parents and I work hard to pay for. 4 years at a university is becoming increasingly harder to pay for even with all of the scholarships I apply for/received (including the UNT excellence scholarship for academic achievement). I am typing my fingers to the bone applying for scholarship after scholarship to pay for this trip. Any size donation will not only help get me to London, but also make sure that I can explore and eat once I'm there (as meals are not provided). Thank you so much for your time. I hope you have a wonderful day.

(P.S. This gofundme is yet another scholarship opportunity. #januaryscholarship a chance for me to win $1000 from GoFundMe as long as I have at least 10 unique donors. Thanks again for your support)
