Honoring Kelly

On April 5, 2018, we lost our beloved Kelly Garrison. Kelly was first and foremost an incredible mother, as well as a devoted daughter, sister, Teacher, friend, and beautiful human being.. Kelly worked for Corbett Prep for ten years and will always be with us in our hearts, as a part of our school family.  During her Celebration of Life Memorial in Gatlin Hall in April, the amount of families and colleagues who came from all over to participate in the evening, demonstrated just how much she touched  so many from the past to the present. It was truly inspiring. 

As many of us know, Kelly was hiding from her estranged ex-husband, who had already unsuccessfully tried to take her life. Tragically, he succeeded in early April along with killing her sister, badly injuring her niece and then taking his own life. This tragic event has left our Kelly Garrison's beautiful 2-year old daughter, Zaydee, without both her mother and father. 

The good news is that Kelly G's Mother and Father have been such wonderful, kind and loving grandparents to Zaydee. When they returned to Tampa in April to close Kelly's apartment, and drove up to Corbett Prep to reconnect with the school, two year-old Zaydee sweetly said, 'Mommy's in heaven with Jesus."   Zaydee adores her grandparents and is doing as well as one can imagine. Kelly’s family is determined that Zaydee will have the best life possible...just as Kelly always wanted for her beloved daughter. 

Now that Zaydee is safe with her grandparents and their family members, it is now our opportunity to honor Kelly, from our hearts, by participating generously, to the best of our ability, to support her future and present needs.
