Honoring Gary Hess

I am writing this page with love and support of the Hess/Young family.
My family and I have had the honor of knowing Gary for 20+ years. Like so many others, he was my son’s first hockey coach. I have also had the pleasure of working for Gary the past 8 years up until his day of passing.
Two months ago, on August 11, 2018, collectively we mourned the sudden passing of one of the greatest men we were privileged to know and have in our lives. Gary is missed terribly each and every day by his family, friends and colleagues.
The emotional rollercoaster his family has endured since his passing has been devastating, to say the least, and with the onset of medical bills and other expenses it has made each day very difficult for them to heal. Although this family has so much strength and pride, I believe this can help all of them in some small way.
Those who knew Gary knew he was a devoted father to his daughter Becca, loving partner to Donna young, devoted stepfather of Stephen Young and wife Christina, cherished grandpa of Haley, loving uncle to Justin and Katherine, caring brother to Mike Hess and his wife Donna, and a loyal friend to so many. He was an incredible human being who has touched the lives of so many, both young and old. In his 55 years on this earth, he has coached many and mentored thousands of hockey players throughout NJ and NY. He was the Hockey Director of the Ramapo Saints Hockey organization at Sport O Rama Ice Rink in Monsey, NY up until the day of his passing. Gary adored kids and tried to teach them not only the fundamentals of hockey but more importantly life lessons. He was also an outdoorsman who loved animals of all types and respected nature.
