Home for Rimal and his family

In April of 2015 a devastating earthquake hit the Katmandu valley in Nepal.  Nearly 9,000 were killed, 22,000 injured and hundreds of thousands left homeless. 

Rimal and his daughter Shreeya were one of many who lost their homes. He is now trying to rebuild, spending the last years since the earthquake working in the army, helping to rebuild others homes and villages.


I had to privilege to travel to Nepal in mid-2016 as part of project around measuring poverty, and I meet Rimal while travelling. He is an honest and caring human.

He has also been saving every rupee he can to build a new home for his wife and child. 

The total cost of building a small home in 1,500,000 rupee (about $19,000 AUD), he has saved 600,000 rupee ($7500 AUD) and will get a grantfrom the government of 300,000 rupee ($3700 AUD).

This leaves him short by 600,000 rupee or approximately $7500 AUD.

Like most Nepalese he is kind and generous and proud, he has asked for my help, and I'm happy to help, but wanted to reach out to my friends and family as well - to see who else might be able to contribute.

Any funds donated will be going directly to Rimal. Unfortunately like many developing nations, the govt agencies responsible for distributing relief funds are not always honest and fair.

In this case you will know that your dollars will be going directly to help someone rebuild their lives.
