What Happened?
Life happens, and God works in mysterious ways. Friday afternoon my mom was busy doing some extreme gardening and she fell. The fall damaged her right knee and leg severely. She was flown off island to Bellingham where they assessed the damage. It is so severe and needs long term care so they rushed her to Harbor View for surgery. She is in a lot of pain and very stressed out worrying about things that are not important for her right now. The most important thing for her right now is to focus on healing.
What is the recommended Treatment?
The first surgery went well. They stabilized her leg with 4 halos and screws. This is the first step. After up to 2 weeks of healing she is due for another surgery. She is not able to leave the hospital. In the next surgery, they will address the break to her tibia and femur, as well as reconstructing her knee. After this surgery, she will not be able to put weight on her leg for 12 weeks. She will need time to recover off her feet and physical therapy.
How Will These Funds Help?
These funds will help pay for hospital services while she is getting treated there. It will help with travel expenses for my Dad who is taking care of her emotional stress right now. Later it will help get any equipment she needs at home to provide a safe environment for her to heal in. This is going to be a long recovery and she cannot work. She is stressed out about not providing for herself and never likes to ask for help. For us to properly help her to heal and recover we need help. I will gladly be the medium to ask everyone. Please help my mom through her healing from this severe injury. She is not the kind of person who sits still for too long. This will be a difficult road of recovery.
