Holy Idea Tees & A Modern Day Jesus

My name is Chris Koenig and I own a small T-shirt company called Holy Idea Tees.
I started Holy Idea Tees because I believe prosaic T-shirts have the potential to do something truly spectacular. They are one of the most popular forms of self-expression, and can be used to spread a very real message of love, hope, faith and peace. My idea (my “Holy Idea” if you will) is to modernize Jesus and make him more “current”.
All the actions Jesus performed 2,000 years ago still have meaning today. However, if he was here today, he’d probably wear Levi’s, have a cell phone and would likely turn water into Hefeweizen or some kind of artisanal whiskey.
With this modern-day Jesus, I hope to re-introduce the love he showed and make it real again. These tees will start a dialog on his life story. I want to make Jesus relevant. What would he look like if he came now? What would he wear? How would his life story have played out? The answer is: much the same way it did 2,000 years ago, but in much different surroundings.
My dream is to create a movement. I want the world to benefit from identifying with a man who isn’t unreachable. I grew up in a church where I was always intimidated by a Jesus immortalized in stained glass and bible stories. I couldn’t identify with him because he lived in a different time, dressed differently, and talked differently.
With these T-shirts, I hope to show a man people can emulate and use to improve the state of their hearts. I feel like the world needs a lot of that right now.
These funds I’m asking for are to get the business off the ground and move forward. I want to do it right and that takes a little capital.

I’m hoping to have these funds by September 1, 2018. All of the pieces are in place as I’ve already met with the T-shirt printing company and am in the process of getting an official website built.
Words cannot express the kind of joy I would feel if people got behind this project. For the last four years I’ve been bootstrapping this business by selling old T-shirts from thrift stores, estate sales, garage sales and anywhere else I could find them. Money runs out quickly when supporting a family AND trying to get a T-shirt brand off the ground.
Please know that your donation is more than just a monetary contribution. The plans for this endeavor go far beyond T-shirts. I will do everything I can to emulate the modern-day Jesus character and give back to causes and people who need it more than I do.
