Hogar de las Estrellas Cusco, Peru
If you choose to donate to this cause I will be personally handling every aspect of your donation. Once a month I will post pictures of the receipts and descriptions (in English) of what has been purchased and why so that you can see exactly what the money has been spent on (minus the gofundme.com service fee).
My goal is to provide all donors will full transparancy through this website and happily welcome any questions about any aspect of my work in or outside of Hogar de las Estrellas. Unfortunately due to the sensitivity of the issue I have been asked not to post any pictures of the children on a public forum. However, if you would like additional information/pictures etc... about the children please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
It is with a heavy, yet thankful, heart that I am announcing I will be closing this gofundme campaign after nearly 4 years. I will be moving away from Cusco and will no longer be able to dedicate the time needed to continue running this project.
Thankfully, the new organization that has taken over Hogar de las Estrellas (now officially named Kusi Wasi or “Happy Home”) has been able to provide much more financial stability. Now, the dire need for medications/food/supplies/etc.. is not as desperate as it once was. Perhaps the end of the campaign has come at the most appropriate time possible.
Over the years I have met some incredibly passionate and dedicated people who have tirelessly worked to provide ongoing support to the children and young adults at Hogar de las Estrellas. There have certainly been some very challenging times over the last few years with the children/young adults, when it seemed impossible to continue. I could not be more thankful to you for all you have done and for the hope you have inspired in me on some of my darkest and most difficult days. I thank each and every one of you for helping to give me the courage to continue.
I would also like to send a very special thank you to Kaline Selden and Silje Kastet. Year after year, you have both continued to impress me with your commitment to Hogar de las Estrellas. It has been an absolute honor to know you both.
In 2016 alone we have helped the children/young adults move to a new home, provided all with new school uniforms, and celebrated a wonderful Christmas together. Many resources have been provided as well when needed and the overall care they have received has been improved thanks to all who have helped contribute.
In light of this news, I would like to share with you about another organization that I have worked with during my time in Cusco that truly stands apart from all the rest in terms of the impact they have made here in Peru. This non-profit, called Peruvian Hearts, dedicates its’ entirety to ensuring that young females with great need (but even greater potential) are given all the resources needed to pursue an education.
Their outcomes are beyond anything I have seen from an organization in Cusco and what they are able to accomplish is truly unique. Since I will no longer be able to continue the fundraising for Hogar de las Estrellas I would like to provide a trust-worthy alternative for any of you who would still like to give back to the Peruvian community. Their website is www.coloradogives.org/peruvianhearts and more information regarding their program, mission, etc.. can be found there.
Once again, from the bottom of my heart thank you all for the impact you have not only made in my life but also in the life of each and every child/young adult at Hogar de las Estrellas. Many of whom, without your continued love and support, would not be where they are today. Together we have truly accomplished great things!
Two years ago I visited and worked in this orphanage. The children touched my heart. I have fund raised some money and am visiting again this month. I am so looking forward to seeing the children with the hope that at least one or two of them will remember me. I hope to contribute the money I raised directly to Chelsey for the needs of these children. Look forward to my visit this month.
Wow Chelsey, it's contagious! Wonderful for the kids! Bendiciones a todos! Feliz Ano Nuevo!

I have just returned from Cusco where I volunteered to do some child care work at Hogarth de las Estrellas ( House Of Stars) It was an amazing experience, demanding and challenging yet so rewarding and fulfilling before I went, I raised funds for the orphanage, the best thing I ever did! I feel so proud if myself and I am positive the funds will be used wisely and it will make a difference to the children at this orphanage. Please please help contribute and donate generously to these children. They need our help every little bit helps and you will be blessed for your support. Many thanks. Kaline Seldenx
