Mark and I humbly request help for our family. The Paradise Camp Fire has had a devastating affect on the Hogan family. Our sister Lora & partner Bob, sisters Kathleene and Holly, and elderly mother Vera have all lost their homes... their sanctuary, their safe place, their security. Our hearts are broken for our loved ones. We are incredibly grateful that all made it out alive.
Our most urgent need is to place Vera into a new memory care facility as soon as possible. This type of displacement is especially difficult on the elderly with dementia. Vera needs her routine and around-the-clock care in order to feel safe and secure. Memory Care facilities are expensive, her income barely covered costs in "low-cost" Paradise and wherever we place her next will be much more costly.
Paradise was a high-risk area where renter's insurance coverage was impossible to secure. Those affected will need to replace everything once new homes are found, on top of the cost of entry into a new rental. Although all efforts to receive FEMA assistance are under way, it will be a long time before any funds are received (if any, there are no guarantees).
Friends and family, it is really difficult to wrap our heads around the extent of loss our family has suffered from this fire. If you can help, any donation is deeply appreciated (truly... even $1 is significant!). If a donation is not feasible, we ask for you to hold Lora & Bob, Vera, Kathleene and Holly in your hearts, keep them in your thoughts and prayers. The road to recovery will be long, but with your loving kindness we know we will get through this difficult time.
