Life changing cervical spine surgery

Our (patients like me) prayers have been answered and there is finally a fantastic neurosurgeon in the UK!!!! Providing the operation I desperately need, with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome experience. This is a massive miracle for so many people including me. Sadly... it isn’t provided by the NHS. I am sadly having to fundraise for a life saving cervical spine fusion surgery. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which in essence causes the tissues of the body to become extremely lax and fragile. I’ve suffered all my life with this with frequent dislocations, anaesthesia resistance, chronic pain, fatigue, poor muscle mass, vitamin deficiencies, diverticula disease, hair loss, etc. but it worryingly went undiagnosed until I was an adult. My diagnoses to date; Craniocervical instability, Jugular vein and transverse venous sinus stenosis, CSF leak, Chiari malformation / brain slump, Intracranial hypertension, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. An upright scan of my cervical spine showed excessive range of motion in flexion and extension causing my spinal cord to be stretch and bashed against the misaligned bones of my spine. In essence I experience spinal cord injury every day for minor movements, like a mini car crash over and over again. I spend my days in bed, and rarely leave the house. When I do it’s by wheelchair and with a stiff neck brace on. I have little control now over my arms and legs, my back and torso are also numb. I am partially parlaysed. And getting worse with each week that passes. This damage is soon going to become permanent, if it isn’t already. I need this surgery with the hope and good chance I can get much of my life back. I miss working, driving, socialising, supporting my family... I miss being able to wash my hair without my arms going numb. I miss being able to live a day worrying this will be my last before being totally paralysed. I am relying on your help, whilst at the same time feeling deep shame that I am asking it of you. I will never be able to express the struggle between my desperation for this surgery to save me and the torment of not having any other financial option but to seek your support, but the inexpressible gratitude that you are helping me.
