Starting an Animal Sanctuary

My name is Crystal and I want to make a difference.

I did my duty as a woman, a wife, and a mother: I went to school, I got an education, and I found a long-term career. My husband and I have been together over 20 years, raising our children to be honest, good citizens. We work hard for our companies but we always just seem to break even.

After a fair share of medical issues alongside other stressful life challenges, my husband lost his job just 2 weeks before Christmas 2017. He gave that company 15 years of his life. It was a blow we didn't see coming. Couple that with several interviews with no call-backs, we have had to re-evaluate where we are and what we are doing. What can we do? What do we want to do? If we are going to break even for the rest of our lives, why aren't we doing something we are passionate about?

As it turns out, the silver lining of him not having a job is that we have had a lot of time to re-connect as a couple and as a family ... and to talk. We have talked about our passions and that helping animals and living a simple, cruelty-free, self-sustainable life is something we both want.

After having a candid conversation with my brother, someone who knows business, talking viability and financials - my husband and I know this idea can become a reality.

I would like to raise money in order to file to become a not-for-profit. Once we are able to file, then the remainder of the funds raised will be on us via grants, other donation requests, events, etc.

This is where you come in -

This is our dream. The sanctuary will house as many rescue animals as possible or appropriately re-home those that we do not have space for. Every animal that comes to the sanctuary, permanent resident or not, will receive the veterinary care and daily care needed.

While caring for the animals, we want to help humans too. We want to inspire everyone to strive to be better residents, neighbors, and humans.

While there is no deadline to raising these funds, the sooner we are able to raise this money, the sooner we are able to move forward with a dream.

I appreciate each and every one of you that have read this far. I hope you find it in your hearts to donate. If you are unable to donate, then please - just share our page.

It's about the American dream. As John F. Kennedy once said, "One person can make a difference, and everyone should try."
