Hit-and-run victim Robert Jordan and family

*****UPDATE****

Robert Jordan has been discharged from the hospital to receive care at home by his wife and family as he continues his recovery.  He suffers from speech aphasia, a broken neck, and motor coordination problems that make him a fall risk.  All of this is expected to improve over time, but to what extent is unknown. He will receive out patient therapy for speech, physical therapy and occupational therapy in the months ahead.  The good news is that he will not have to go to long term skilled nursing care, as was initially expected. He did in fact wake up, and became responsive within 5 weeks of when he was side swiped by drunken driver Gregory Lucas, Jr, who still remains at large.

The family of Robert Jordan would like to thank everyone who contributed to them financially, and also supported them by their thoughts and prayers.  The Go Fund Me was used to provide Robert with a handicap shower, and hand rails for the stairs.  Thankfully, long term care is not needed for the immediate future, and Robert can now be cared for at home, which is the best outcome family could hope for.

--------

Robert Jordan is a loving father, husband, brother, teacher, and friend. He has touched so many lives throughout his career, teaching dance to generations of students in Winston-Salem. He has really enjoyed cycling to work, and the Sunday social bike rides have been the peak of his week.

On March 25, as he was riding his bike home from work, he was hit by a car. The car kept driving without stopping, and left him lying in the road, severely injured. His bicycle was destroyed.

Robert will require long term care due to his brain injuries. He has Medicare, but there will still be significant costs to the family due to medical costs, long term care, and loss of income. And medical bills are already coming in.

If for any reason the funds are not needed for Robert's long term care, then they will be donated to St Jude's.

We are so grateful for all of your thoughts and prayers, and we can’t wait to hear his laugh again soon.
