Hips for Greg

I am trying to raise money for my brother, Greg Hansen, who was recently diagnosed with avascular necrosis of both hips. Avascular necrosis is a condition where your bone tissue dies due to lack of blood supply, there are several causes but usually the cause is unknown. Symptoms of this condition include sever pain and immobility. In Greg’s case it is so far advanced that he needs total hip replacement on both hips at the age of 32. The head of each femur bone in both hips are already collapsing and it’s only a matter of time before they fully collapse requiring emergency surgery.
Anyone who knows my brother knows that he is the most genuinely good, caring, kind, giving person. He is always helping and giving to others and never expecting or even allowing anything in return. He is probably going to be upset I even did this because he never accepts help even though he gives it on a daily basis.
Greg works as a realtor in Sheridan Wyoming. He is newly married with a new baby as well. As I’m sure many of you know realtors are never guaranteed a paycheck. In addition they are not offered insurance, paid time off or sick leave. He is the sole provider in his family and he works incredibly hard to provide for them.
Greg needed surgery months ago due to the progression of his condition but continues to delay because he wants to make sure his family will be taken care of. He is one of the hardest working people I know and it breaks my heart that he is suffering so much. You can see how much pain he is in and how much he struggles just to walk but of course you never hear him complain.
On average total hip surgery for one hip costs $30,000 dollars. Greg needs both hips replaced. He was fortunate to get insurance recently but we are unsure of coverage for surgery. Recovery for a total hip surgery is usually 6 weeks if everything goes well but can be up to 6 months. They can only do one hip at a time so that’s a minimum of 12 weeks of recovery.
