Hawaii Youth Drummer Leads Commissioning Project

My name is Caden Hong and I am a percussion student in the Hawaii Youth Percussion Ensemble (HYPE). I am excited to be raising money for a project where I commission five prominent composers to write pieces for young percussion ensembles. We have a fantastic lineup of composers including Nathan Daughtrey, Brandon Dittgen, Chad Heiny, Angela Kepley, and Matt Moore. The composers will be working closely with me to ensure that the pieces are enjoyable and educational for young percussionists to learn. We are also looking forward to possibly having the pieces published worldwide by C. Alan Publications.

Providing authentic and meaningful learning opportunities is essential to maximizing learning for all students. Through this project, I am hoping to inspire other students to reach out to professionals that make learning relevant, challenging and fun for them.
