Hewitt family grieving Bartleby

On December 12 an armed robber fleeing from police got into our back yard. Our dog Bartleby found him and defended his yard and family with his life. The robber shot Bartleby before going to the neighbor's yard and losing his own life in a shoot out with police. The children were all home, we call them his kids because of the way he took care of them. Bartleby had enough time to get into the house and check on his kids before succumbing to the injury. Our middle child held him in his last moments while the other two were talking with police and parents on the phone. This has been a very difficult year for our family. In February we lost our oldest dog Loki at the age of 13, he and Bartleby were the best of friends. We then lost our oldest cat, Mufasa, at the age of 18 in March. On November 27 we lost our best friend Moe Bennett in a terrible car accident. And now this horrible event. Our family needs to grieve and try to recover together, but sadly we are not very well off. We have the expenses of cremation for our hero Bartleby. We will be adopting a puppy companion for our last remaining dog Snoopy who has never been without a dog family and is grieving as well. There will be cost associated with the new puppy like adoption fees, neutering and shots along with training. Liz does not have enough paid time off available to cover the time off that will be needed and we are looking for help covering lost income. We have a lot of healing to do together as a family and we appreciate any help that anyone can provide. If you know of any large breed puppies that will be available around January 1st please send pictures and contact info. We love pit bull breeds like Loki and lab or shepherd breeds like Bartleby.
