Hershey's Numerous Vet Bills

Donation protected
My 8 year old Australian Labordoodle, Hershey has had a tough couple weeks. She broke her leg and now has glaucoma in both of her eyes with one becoming completely blink within just 2 weeks!

 - On Monday 2/27/2017 we let her out into the yard like we usually do and when she came in, she had a limp. She went straight to her bed when she usually jumps up and down excitedly for her treat.

 - In her bed she layed there not moving, eating or drinking, not even eating her treat. I checked her paw and didn't find anything wrong with it but when I felt further up her leg she yelled out and nipped at me, which she never does.

 - After seeing this we immediately went to the closest vet and they sedated her and took x-rays. They told us that she had a humeral condylar fracture which needed surgery as soon as possible with a week being the latest we should wait. They then put her in a cast and sent her home with us.

 - This emergency examination, the x-rays and the cast cost $315 dollars. The picture below shows her broken leg on the left. Poor baby :(

 - On Friday 3/3/2017 we took her to get her surgery which cost $1400 dollars, which we are still trying to figure how to pay. Even after surgery she needs to be under constant watch as shes not supposed to jump, go up the stairs or do most other things for the next 6 weeks.

 - This is really hard on her as she is a very energetic dog who loves to play. She also had to take 3 different pills 2 times a day for pain and to reduce inflimation.

 - Today Wednesday 3/22/2017 we went in for her two week check in and her leg was recovering well, thank goodness, but that's not where things stoped.

 - While examining her they saw an abnormality in her right eye. They took her pressure levels in her eye and it was at 65 when its supposed to be 20 max. They told us that she needed to see an eye specialist that day, so we rushed to the nearest eye specialist for an emergency appointment.

 - After an hour and half of waiting with worry they saw us and told us that Hershey has glaucoma in both of her eyes. In the right eye it was more developed and we found out she will be permanantly blind in that eye.

 - They sent us home with 3 different types of eye drops that she needs 3 times a day, and said they needed to see her again tomorrow. With the eye drops and the session today it was an additional $290 dollars and a similar bill is expected for tomorrow.

 - Glaucoma is a serious condition and can cause permanent damage in a short period of time, so short that over two weeks Hershey lost complete sight in her right eye in just 2 weeks between vet visits!!!

 - Treatment of glaucoma is very costly as it requires multiple treatments over time, along with the fact that one of her eyes is already blind and will most likely need to be removed. Glaucoma treatment can be as much as $3500 dollars.

 - I'm in my first year of college, working a minimum wage part time job. Paying for the examinations alone is hard for me and with this $1400 dollar surgery in addition to her eye expenses.

 - The sooner Hershey gets funded the better because everyday spent untreated her glaucoma gets worse. She just lost her right eye and I really want her to keep her left.

 - Even though she is 8 her breed usually lives 14 years and she still acts like a puppy. I've had her since I was 10 and this is the first time anything like this has happened to her.

 - It seems like all of this is happening all at once and any donations would be greatly appriciated to help Hershey get treated as soon as possible and recover smoothly.
