Henry Ever After!

Three years ago while driving to work, I came across a dog on the side of the road. He was in really terrible shape. I pulled over and called 911 and stayed with him until someone came to take him to the emergency vet. After sitting with him on the side of the road for three hours, and promising that he wasn't alone anymore and that we were going to save him, I couldn't just walk away. I followed him to the vet, assumed ownership, and took responsibility for his healthcare. They asked me what his name was, and I said the first name that popped into my head; Henry! And the rest of the story is history.
Henry now lives at home with me and his two sisters, and he's the happiest, healthiest dog. He was only 38 lbs when I found him that day, and now he weighs almost 80!
At the time of his rescue, Henry had to have a blood transfusion because the fleas had taken so much of it, and he had a broken jaw. But thanks to all of the people that donated, we were able to get Henry the people he needed, save his life, and bring him home. He fully recovered, and I couldn't imagine life without him. That is because of the whole community that came together. We raised almost $6,000 for Henry's medical expenses, and we spent every penny. Blood transfusions aren't cheap! Neither are the dozen prescriptions and special food he was on.
Henry was so lucky that day, but other dogs are unfortunately not. But there is an organization in Syracuse that helps so many dogs to get the same second chance that Henry did; Cuse Pit Crew! So in honor of Henry's third anniversary, we are doing a fundraiser to raise money to support their efforts and save even more of these special animals.
