Hi guys!
So as many of you all know, Travis has been battling a urinary blockage for the past two months, and has been in and out of the hospital. Thankfully, he has been in great spirits and refuses to give up. Since he keeps getting blockages, he will need a PU surgery.
A PU (Perineal Urethrostomy) is performed on male cats who have recurring urinary blockages. During the procedure, the penis is removed and the larger diameter of the urethra that is closer to the bladder is sutured to the skin between the anus and the scrotum. This provides a new, wider opening through which Travis would be able to urinate.
Travis and I have gone through at least $2,000 already because of treatment, and his insurance will not cover it because he had a similar issue right before we signed up with them, so it is considered a pre-existing condition.
This would help Travis and I a great deal. The surgery itself is between $2,000-$3,000, plus we would need help with any tests, medication, hospitalization, etc. This is our last fighting chance, and I'm doing this because I can't in good consciousness put him down when there's something that can be done to fix this for good.
Any little bit helps! We would like to have his surgery done within the next two months, if possible, so we would at least like to have the cost of the surgery itself covered.
He's a very sweet boy and he has a lot of life left in him. He was actually the only kitten in his litter to survive, because out of the four kittens, he was the only one that did not have feline leukemia. So he is very special and he means a lot to me. I typically don't ask for help with anything, but Travis and I do need your help with this.
