David Borrero was an avid fitness enthusiasts participating in Spartan races and working out and If any of you remember Melissa Jackson (Borrero), you would remember she was/is one of the nicest you would ever come across. Always has a smile on her face even through her rough times. She is always the first in line to go out of her way to help others. I was hoping that our community would go out its way to help David and Melissa's family.  David suffered a stroke a year ago effecting 2/3 of the right side of his brain.  While he was in the ICU, his brain began to swell at a rapid pace which caused the doctors to have to give him a craniotomy.  Along with the craniotomy, the stroke left David with paralysis.  They spent four weeks in the ICU where they began intensive therapy to teach him how to swallow and physical therapy to encourage the mind to reconnect.  From there they spent a week on the stroke floor at Cooper Medical Center.  Then David was transferred to Health South Rehab where they taught him how to walk again.  He spent a month in rehab and gained his major muscle function to allow him to walk but they are still dealing with his left side paralysis.  David goes to physical therapy three times a week.  Because of this, David has been unable to work and Melissa has been his care giver, transportation, advocate and more.  They have lost their home and have been living behind their church in a camper.  Besides all of this, both Melissa and David have WARRIOR spirits.  They will not let this stop them.  You will never catch them with a frown on their face.  Their faith is strong and it has allowed them to work through this struggle with a positive outlook.  BUT thats not enough.  If we can come together and help this family it would be amazing.
