Special Needs Dogs Need Help!

Over ten years ago, a very special place was created called the Rescue Ranch.  It's website URL came from a conversation I had with another rescuer--it was the first stop for animals who were injured, unadoptable, terminally ill and it could be the last place for them.  They could stay until God called their name.  http://www.firststop-laststop.com was started.

After losing too many dogs from the fatal distemper virus, that they were getting at the shelters (disabled and injured dogs were either instantly euthanized or kept longer than others to see if someone would help them, making them more likely to contract this lethal virus), we decided to find the treatment for this--and did.  It was a miracle just working with Dr. Sears and Ed Bond, who had kept the original information for over ten years.  We perfected it, developed a complete protocol and working with vets, put it to the test and with some tweaks, vets all over the world are now saving dogs with this previously deadly disease.  They may never know where Project Hope originiated but God does.

It took a lot from us personally to do all of that.  Everything we had financially as well as lots of angels helped fund the distemper project, Project Hope.  We thought that we'd have years and years to recover financially and so liquidating our savings and retirement, etc. didn't worry us, especially when it would save the lives of dogs forevermore.  What an amazing legacy for all of us!

Then, things personally started to change.  Our co-founder and primary supporter starting falling and repeating things six and eight times in a row.  He had many other problems that have developed but we thought it was just that he was overworked and tired.  After a handful of very expensive brain scans and testing, we found out that he has a terminal, fast-progressing brain illness called Lewy Body Dementia.  He can no longer work.  The bottom of our lives dropped out as well as our primary source of funding.

Needing angels to pick up just part of the ball while I concentrate on medical issues, end of life planning, and now, taking care of someone who is failing in the prime of his life, we need YOUR help.  I know it is a big drain for you but if many helped, it would be easy.  All we need is 100 people to give $22/month or 22 to give $100 a month.  The overhead is still covered and there are no salaries or perks paid out and only what the dogs need is covered by this monthly fund.

I don't expect this to go on forever.  I thought I could get back to work to cover the deficit but in fact find that I need to be a 24/7 aid for the dogs and for our co-founder!  A symptom of the disease (I'll keep private for now) makes him ineligible for home help or hospitalization, nevermind the lack of finances to cover extra help. The appliances are unplugged, paper plates and plastic cups are now the norm--for the people.  We are about to switch to disposable dishes for the dogs as well and washable pee pads are going to switch to disposables.  There just isn't time to wash everything when you are dealing with life and death issues both with the dogs and with "someone."

I hope God moves your heart to help.  The best way to help is with a GIFT on this site or paypal OR by giving an amazon e-gift card or sending a gift card that you can buy at the grocery store.  They all add up to help.  The most important thing is that we have the resources that we need to order medicine, medical supplies, special diet foods, chews, vet care funds, etc.  More worry and stress is killing me and what happens if I can't manage anymore?

Special needs animals need things you can not even beging to imagine.  They are a different "animal" than a pet that you let out to go potty and put down a bowl of dry kibble to eat.  They need enhancements to eat, have to be hand-fed a lot of the time, need supplements that help where medicine cannot, need vet care for things that "well" dogs do not even face and so much more.

So, I've put the need before you--if you can help, we would be grateful.  If you cannot, really truly cannot, please pass on this request to five friends but more importantly, please say a prayer for the help that we need to come--and soon.  Maybe someone will donate a property so we can use the mortgage money instead for the other things needed!  Maybe people will leave special bequests or initiate collections of amazon gift cards in their office or neighborhoods (I would be happy to supply a flier to accompany the wrapped box on your desk for them to drop them in.)

We are trying to continue to keep the sanctuary open and running while dealing with devastating personal issues but it is not going to be possible without help.  Your help.
