HELP! Bills piled up when sick

Donation protected
Hello.

Below is the full version of how I decided to be here on GoFundMe.

This is the Cliff notes version:

Several years ago hubby had to stop working because of health stuff. He had LTD for awhile, but that ran out and I had to get a job. I found one quickly, but it was NOT as well paying as hubby’s was. Well, after a year, minor health problems for me before work life, turned into large problems. I had to take time off, 6 months actually. I got surgery, and it helped for about a month, but working makes my problems much worse. But I HAVE to work to feed myself, hubby, and son (who is 22 and can not find a job. BUT is trying! HARD!)

As you can imagine, that sort of time of with no money? Bills pile up. I have been back at work for almost 8 months, BUT, juggling bills and paying only a tiny here and a tiny there to everyone … is failing. EVERYONE wants their money NOW. It is not helping that my health is worse now, than when I took the 6 months off.

I hate begging, but would REALLY, REALLY appreciate any kind of help you can give. I really need to stay in my home and pay some bills so I can keep working.

Thank you!!

For those who wish to know more (or need help falling asleep?)

I want to note, I am on antidepressants. I have had depression a very long time, even before realizing it. The antidepressants help me. More than I thought they would, or could. They are helping me cope somewhat with life, but it does not take away the fear of losing everything, or the guilt of not being able to provide for your family. Nothing can help that.

This is my story.

My name is Susan, I am married to an amazing man, and have a great son. We have had various struggles with money all our married lives, but about 5 years ago we were FINALLY in a good place. We didn't have a lot of money, but bills were paid on time, we had the car paid off, and we were just a few years from being mostly debt free. Then, my husband was unable to work any more (not my story to share), he was on LTD, but at the end of the 2 years, they decided that even though he still could not work, he was not qualified for the long part of the LTD and cut him off - ONE MONTH NOTICE.

With no longer having an income, and my health seemingly holding steady after my hysterectomy 5 months prior, I took it on myself to get a job. It only took 6 months after starting work for my body to remind me why I was a housewife even though our son was no longer in school. But I powered through. That’s what a marriage is, supporting each other! He had worked for all our married life until that point, and I had only worked for about 3 years worth.

By the end of my first year, we were back on track to getting things paid down. Sure, the debt free plan was pushed back a few years (extra 5 tagged on. Hubby had a WELL paying job), but we were getting there.

Then it happened.

My health gave out. Whatever my internal issues are (undiagnosed, working on that), they decided that my body could just not handle work any more. I ended up having 6 months off. EI only covered about 2 months of that time off. The rest of it was borrowing from parents, friends, and begging companies to hang in there. PLUS our landlord is also our boss (a second job – property management), and was letting our rent slide (to be paid back).

IT. WAS. HARD.
MANY nights our son wouldn't eat, or would just have cereal (CHEAP food), and mostly we ate nothing but junk food because it is THE cheapest stuff you can buy. Potatoes, carrots, and iceberg lettuce were our only real food.

As you can imagine, 6 months worth of bills, a years worth of rent (at $925 a month), adds up REALLY fast. The surgery was suppose to fix me, and it did. For a short time (less than a month). It has slowly gotten worse since last September, and in reality I am worse than during my 6 months off last year! But I just can not afford to not be working.

At this time, in order to keep our heads above water, and the wolves at bay, I NEED to be working 40 hours a week, (and probably overtime). What my doctor is ALLOWING me to work, is 36 hours. Even then, almost every week I am missing a shift because of my pain and bowel issues.

I can’t promise that any money you donate will go strictly to bills, some will go to food. But what I will promise, is that you will allow me to being to make payments to some of these companies that I am avoiding right now, and allow me to have some feeling of helping my family, of not being a burden to them because of my health.

You will be helping me to feel like I can breathe again.

Thank you,

From the bottom of my heart! Thank you!
