Help Scout's House Help More Pets

$19,908 of $15,000 goal

Scout's House is facing an expensive move.  Please help us make the transition.

On August 31st, Scout's House  has to leave the place we've called home for the last 13 years.  And while we're grateful for the time we've spent across from the Menlo Park train station, we're a little worried too.  The truth is we struggle everyday to keep our costs down so that we can pay a living wage to our employees and a Silicon Valley rent while still helping all the dogs and cats in our community who need the transformative benefits of physical rehabilitation therapy.

But this move is putting a big strain on our finances--which is why we're asking for your help.

With your donation, we can ensure that Scout's House can avoid laying off Krista and Andrea while we get our new space ready, that we'll have the money to pay our contractor to modify the new site for our hydrotreadmill, and that we'll have enough left over to get us through while we rebuild our business.

As a Scout's House client or friend, you understand the difference we've made in the lives of the 3000+ elderly, injured, and ill dogs and cats we've treated since we opened in 2005.  Family pets like your own, K9 Unit dogs from local law enforcement agencies, assistance dogs, and pets from local shelters have all sought--and received--help and relief from Scout's House over the last 13 years.  And while you've supported us in the past by trusting us to help your pet, we're hoping you can support us again as we make the transition from Menlo Park to San Mateo.

Please give what you can.  Please share this with your friends.  And please let everyone know that Scout's House is a place worth saving.

Thank you, with love and gratitude from Lisa--and Scout32301004_1534801387262821_r.jpeg

Today we give thanks for our wonderful clients and friends who have supported us all these years (and during this move). We're still waiting on permits from the City of San Mateo, but being able to help some pets on Fridays with Initial Exams and Home Exercise Programs (thanks to Mid Peninsula Animal Hospital) has made the wait a little more bearable. So today, especially, we give thanks. The love and support from everyone makes us grateful beyond words. Happy Thanksgiving!

An update for our clients and friends:
Our new space still isn't ready due to permitting issues, but (here's the good news!) we're now offering Initial Exams with Home Exercise Programs (HEPs) so that our new clients can start their pets’ recoveries at home (and be ready to start regular rehab therapy as soon as we reopen). Returning clients whose pets need reevaluations and/or an update to existing HEPs may come in, as well.
Using a borrowed space at 251 North Amphlett Blvd (next door to where our new space will be), our Director of Rehab Therapy Krista Niebaum, MPT, CCRT, and Supervising Veterinarian Leigh Stevens, DVM (or other staff veterinarian) will conduct an hourlong rehab examination of your pet and give you a comprehensive Home Exercise Program tailored to your pet’s specific needs.
For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call us at (650) 328-1430.

Our thanks to all of you for your generosity in helping us through this transition. We wish we could report that we're moved in but our landlord's been held up by the City of San Mateo permitting process, which has pushed back our move-in date yet again. We're hoping for a November 1st move in, but only time will tell. Positive thoughts!
