Archie is a happy and playful westie who loves people and makes friends wherever he goes. Last week, he was diagnosed with lymphoma - a form of cancer. The vet has urged that the kindest thing to do for Archie is to give him a round of chemotherapy, which will most likely alleviate his symptoms so that he can have a long and happy life.
The treatment has a high success rate, with 80% of dogs going into full remission. But without it, Archie's symptoms and suffering will only get worse until it becomes too much. This diagnosis has come completely out of the blue, and his insurance policy plus all of my savings have been used up on diagnostics. Now I must raise the full £4000 needed for his chemotherapy.
Archie is still just as lively and playful now as he was as a puppy, and that's why the RSPCA have generously decided to contribute £100 towards treating him. They agree that at the age of 9 Archie deserves a chance at a long and happy life, with many westies living up to age 16. Their donation meant that I had enough for Archie's first treatment, so he had his first dose of chemotherapy medicine last week.
Each of the £200 treatments happen weekly, so time is of the essence. Enough funds need to be raised for Archie to continue his 20 week course, or they may discontinue. Archie is warm, loving, and so gentle that he tells other dogs off for play-fighting because all he understands is love and affection.
He is a best friend, a confidant, a guaranteed smile. He brings joy to me every single day and I need your help giving him the long, happy life he deserves.
