Help PLAY it Forward

Help PLAY it Forward was formed by Gavin McCullough, a 9 year old boy who loves baseball, football and all sports. Gavin recently visited Nicaragua with his three brothers and parents for summer vacation and while he was there noticed the love that the kids and people had for baseball. Despite their lack of equipment, kids were all over playing pick up games in their yards with worn out gloves and many using sticks and rocks for bats and balls. Gavin wanted to stop and play with all the kids he saw!

After coming home, he saw a biography about Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros. Jose told of his childhood in Venezuela and how he only had one ball to practice with. If he ever lost his ball by hitting it over the fence, it wasn't something his family could easily replace. Gavin's eyes filled with tears when he heard this. He felt so blessed to have all the balls he ever wanted to play with, a great field and indoor practice facility nearby, and new equipment when he needed it.

A few days later, Gavin asked his Mom if there would be a way to make a foundation to help kids who didn't have baseballs. That conversation led to a family meeting and Help PLAY it Forward was born with a vision to provide equipment and host sports camps.

Gavin is happy to have the support of his parents and 3 brothers. He can't wait to show love to other kids through the game of baseball!

And he answered them, "Whoever has two shirts (baseballs) is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise."
