Keep Our Coral Reef Project Going!

The Coral Reef Project
In the last two years, students at Stratton Elementary have brought the ocean to school, creating coral reef ecosystems that are treasured and cared for by children of all ages.

We have four large coral reef tanks and seven other marine and jellyfish aquariums in classrooms and common areas around the school.  Each aquarium is a cherished part of the classroom and a vehicle for hands-on science learning.   The enthusasm that students show for this project permeates all areas of curriculum and is major part of their school experience.

We Need You!
Our coral reef ecosystems contain many rare and beautiful animals, including schools of tangs and angelfish, touchable sea cucmbers, urchins and starfish, and many different species of anemones and coral.  And all of this life depends on your help.

Stratton is a Title One school and our project is not funded by the school district.  It relies soley on donations from Mr. Rutherford, the local community, and reef aquarium enthusiasts from around the world.

We need donations from people like you to puchase the consumable supplies we need to keep our ecosystems alive.  By the end of the school year, we must raise $3000 to pay for salt, food, and chemicals to support our aquariums over the summer and into the fall.

Please Help Us!
Your gift will ensure that our project continues to provide deserving students with an experience of a lifetime.  Please check out our project's website  and our ongoing thread on Reef2Reef.com  to learn more.

Thank you from the students of Stratton Elementary!
