Margot has been the most inspiring person I know. She has dedicated her life to her family and community making sure we can share, celebrate and practice our culture and religion. She has always been the symbol of nurture and safety, always looking out for the most in need.

In the beginning of 2014, we got the news that my mother was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord causing her to lose strength in her muscles. Her doctor has given her 3 years to live. As you can imagine my mom will not take that as the final verdict. We are doing everything to make sure we have the most time with each other. We need your help so she can get the best care possible to keep fighting. We don’t want to pretend that there is a cure (yet) but, God willing, if we can have any more time with her, we will do anything in our power to do so. She has recently received a stem-cell treatment to help combat the progressive rate of the disease. It has been a very difficult and costly process to be able to get the timing and trained team to be able to execute the treatment. We are very hopeful that she can surpass the 3 years and with my mom’s ambition to life, her children, and God, there are no impossibilities.
Al empezar el 2014 , recibimos la noticia de que mi mama había sido diagnosticada con esclerosis lateral amiotrófica ( ELA), una enfermedad neurodegenerativa progresiva que afecta las células nerviosas en el cerebro y la médula espinal, causando que pierda fuerza en sus músculos . Su doctor le ha dado 3 años de vida. Como se pueden imaginar mi mamá no va dejar que esto sea la última palabra. Estamos haciendo todo lo posible para asegurarnos de que tangamos más tiempo juntos. Necesitamos de su ayuda para poder obtener la mejor atención posible para seguir luchando. No queremos fingir que existe una cura (todavía) pero, si Dios quiere, y si podemos tener más tiempo con ella, vamos a hacer todo en nuestro poder para hacerlo. Mi mama ha recibido recientemente un tratamiento con células madre para ayudar a combatir la tasa progresiva de la enfermedad. Ha sido un proceso muy difícil y costoso para poder conseguir la sincronización y equipo capacitado a ejecutar el tratamiento. Tenemos muchas esperanzas de que ella pueda superar los 3 años y con la ambición de mi madre a la vida, a su familia, y Dios, no hay imposibles.
