My name is Mike Schwartz, Music Indusrty Lifestyle Tech and Professional Musician. I'm trying to raise money so that I can make a career move across the country to the hustle and bustle of the big city, Toronto, Ontario.
Why T.O?
Two parts. The first, one of my roles in the music industry is that of the Lifestyle Tech. That's right, I'm the guy that ensures musicians are taking care of their mind, body and spirit. I do this through nutrition coaching, personal training and stress resiliency work. I am able to coach the artists that create the music that you love, to perform at their best and stay creative and happy. This is a huge task, and I'm so grateful I get to help better each artist's life!
The second part is for my other role in the music industry. I'm a drummer. I can't say too much about the gig that I got just yet, but I need to be based out of Toronto to help the group really grow and perform around the country efficiently.
There's a lot of opportunity for both of my professional careers in a place like Toronto, so I have secured employment as a day job with GoodLife Fitness for July so I can get my foundation in the big city. However, I'm looking for some help to get there and established until that point.
I'm looking to raise funds to help offset my moving costs, travel and accommodations while driving and any emergencies that may pop up. Unfortunately, being self-employed makes the move for opportunity a fairly high risk maneuver, so I just want to be sure that my dog, Darwin and I are able to survive the first couple of months before my steady paycheques kick in by the end of July. It is my goal to have $1500 by June 15 to help offset my moving costs.
Here's the break down:
Month of July rent in TO - $1100
Moving costs, accomodations and travel (gas) - $407
With every dollar raised I'm closer to achieving my goal of helping an entire industry by educating proactive health and wellness. I have been spearheading the health and wellness initiative in the Canadian Music Industry for the past 3 years and this move to Toronto will help ensure that I am in a position to truly make an impact on the lives of musicians. I will have greater access to funding opportunities within MusicOntario and branches of local support groups. I have secured speaking engagements with independent groups that see the value in my services in places like London, Montreal and all over the GTA. Most importantly, I have become the Trusted Authority of Musician Wellness amongst my peers and I have established a very good relationship with Canadian Musician Magazine, Canadian Music Week and secured position as the education provider of proactive health with my company, MusicFit.
I am forever humbled by the ongoing support I have received and I'm grateful for any continued support, financial or otherwise that you or your friends and family could throw my way. I truly believe in universal karma and for as many hardships that I've had, I keep picking myself up for the betterment of others and I will continue to do so. A little bit of financial support would help expedite this process, but I am prepared to find a way to my dreams and inevitably Toronto regardless.
