Helping our first reponders /heroes

I have given up receiving any birthday and Christmas presents since I was 6 years old  (I'm 14 now) to raise money for first responders.  I have made this sacrafice for the past 8 years, and still do so. I've always thought if our heroes can make sacrafices, I can too.  I have the opportunity to do a stair climb with a FDNY firefighter/survivor, but I have to fundraise to participate.  I'm embarrased to ask for money for myself, to participate in the fundraiser and the cost of travel, but I really would like to honor the heroes in this memorial climb.  Any extra money donated  above my costs to travel and participate , I would use to continue my personal project of saluting the first responders.  Years ago, I founded a museum  to salute the heroes, and  I have given up gifts for all these years to pay for the cost of traveling with the museum to different states. I put in over 1200 hours a year doing charity work.  My gift has always been seeing the smiles on the First Responders faces when they see my salute to them, or the families of the fallen giving hugs.  I also teach safety to kids and adults to try to prevent the need for so many nights first reponders have to be away from their families.
I have very limited time to raise funds, as the climb is limited to only the first few people who have the money to register.
