Hi all I went to Houston Thursday and came back today. I recieved quit a few shots to my arms and legs. I will be back in Houston for assessments for PT and OT. I just wanted to keep all my friends updated. Prayers are welcome please. Thank all of you for caring.
UPDATE: As of August 2015: Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me achieve my original goal! All your support has allowed me to reach a point in my recovery where I can start college this fall! I'm excited to face this new challenge ahead, and keeping up with my therapy is necessary to help me succeed, which means I still need your support.
My recovery is challenge that I continue to be dedicated to, but the ongoing journey means ongoing expenses – many of which are not covered by insurance. For that reason I'm expanding my financial goal and asking for your continued support. The attention it brings to my story is also serving a greater purpose - contributing to building a world where compassion overtakes violence and hate. We are creating more empathy for other LGBT people who have experiences that are similar to mine.
The kindness shown to me by friends, family, and the people around the world who believe in me has inspired me to keep pushing through and working hard to recover. Knowing that such a supportive community is out there is immensely encouraging for me through moments good and bad. I could not be more appreciative of everything you have done for me so far. Thank you all!

Mary Kristene Chapa,
In your GLAAD speech you stated, “I was actually supposed to give blood, but I ended up being the one who needed blood.” A woman named Mary inspired ten blood/plasma donations made during this past year in honor of three people (Tracey, Mary, and Chase) who generously acted as impromptu wedding witnesses when my spouse and I married in Winnipeg, Canada on October 31st, 2011.
In honor of our three witnesses, Tracey, Mary, and Chase, we want to pay their generosity forward by giving you all of the proceeds ($400) from the ten blood/plasma donations. In doing so, we hope that it increases your opportunity to benefit from whatever physical and occupational therapies are currently available. We wish you the fullest recovery possible and hope that you have every opportunity going forward in life that everyone deserves.
For more information regarding why this donation is in honor of Tracey, Mary, and Chase, please refer to the article located at: http://www.chicagonow.com/portrait-of-an-adoption/2013/10/could-we-ask-two-strangers-to-serve-as-witnesses-for-our-same-sex-wedding/.
All the best,
Sherry and Stacy
