Help Kaplan's Rebuild Flood Damaged Home
A HUMBLE REQUEST TO MAKE IT PERSONAL:.
**This site was intigated and created by a diverse group of friends and family members of the Kaplans as a joint effort to raise awareness of how the Colorado Floods effected them as well as create an opportunity to help them rebuild through this difficult time**
PLEASE CONSIDER OFFERING A FINANCIAL GIFT OF ANY AMOUNT, NOTHING IS TOO SMALL TO ASSIST THE KAPLANS IN REBUILDING THEIR SEVERELY FLOOD DAMAGED HOME IN BOULDER, CO. YOUR CONTRIBUTION WILL HELP PROVIDE TEMPORARY HOUSING AND RESOURCES FOR THEM DURING THIS TIME OF TRAGEDY AND LOSS.
THE EMOTIONAL, SPIRITUAL AND PHYSICAL EFFECTS OF LOSING A HOME AND SENTIMENTAL BELONGINGS DUE TO A NATURAL DISASTER ARE TRAUMATIZING.
ADD TO THAT BEING A PARENT AND TRYING TO EXPLAIN THIS TO YOUR YOUNG CHILDREN AND THE FEAR AND QUESTIONS THIS IGNITES IN THEM.
THEN ADD THE FACT THAT EVERYONE AROUND YOU IS HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED A STATE OF EMERGENCY ON SOME LEVEL:.
THIS IS THE KAPLANS' CURRENT REALITY. IF WE ALL UNITE OUR RESOURCES WE CAN HELP MOVE THEM THROUGH THIS WITH HOPE, LOVE, ENCOURAGEMENT AND RESTORATION!
IN THE WORDS OF MOTHER TERESA OF CALCUTTA, this page is about helping one person or in this case ONE FAMILY WELL!!! She said "We all have our own Calcutta".
We have that same POWER to help the Kaplans!
THE KAPLANS' TESTIMONY
As many of you may be aware, Colorado has suffered a natural disaster that has left behind mass destruction on many fronts due to severe rain and flooding. Homes, roads and buildings have been swept away, over 500 are still missing and some have lost their lives. The needs are overwhelming as water is contaminated, damaged homes are unlivable or simply gone and the entire state is in need of of multiple Divine Interventions. We invite you to be a part of ours:...
The Kaplan Family; Matt, Leah, AJ, Koby and cuddly pup Bailey live in and Love Boulder, Colorado. Leah's mother Barbara, affectionately known as Nonna, also lives in Boulder and is closely knit to her Grandboys, Daughter and Son-In-Law. Nonna, who is an Angel on Earth, will undoubtedly offer her family all she has through this time. Fortunately, Nonna's house was saved from severe damage but she has been effected in many other ways.
Both Leah and Matt graduated from CU and met and fell in Love in this beautiful city. After moving away for a period of time they worked extremely hard to get their family back to Boulder so their two boys, AJ and Koby, could grow up in this safe and breathtaking mountain community. This past week that safety was violently ripped away from them.
Anyone who knows the Kaplans can testify they are each generous, loving, hard working, intelligent, funny and unique Spirits! If you know them, you would have no doubt they would be the firsts to show up in your time of need, whether it wasthrough a financial gift, a long edifying talk on the phone or shoveling smelly sewage from your kitchen after a flood. They are those types of humans.
The video attached will show you the severe flood damage that their home has endured. This was a Level Three flood and the home is unsafe and unlivable not only due to water damage but the toxicity of sewage in their home.
Floods never come at a good time but the fact they recently finished renovating the home from the studs up and now have to start again from scratch so soon adds an extra layer of loss and heartbreak.
Although FEMA will be able to offer some limited assistance for the structural damage, this help will be far from immediate and the claims process will be an act of patience and persistence.
FEMA offers no coverage for the extensive replacement costs of personal property. The Kaplans do not have flood insurance so we are relying on the generosity of those reading this to help supplement immediate needs and temporary housing.
We will be adding specific items needed in the "Wish List" section as this long process continues.
Please consider uniting with us through making a financial donation of any amount. Let's show the Kaplans they are not alone and actively become part of the solution, comfort them and offer resources by tangibly giving to them what we would hope others would give to us during our time of need.
Blessings and Gratitude,
Lovers of the Kaplans, Nonna and Believers in Humanity

I spoke with both Leah and Matt today. They have worked non-stop since the floods hit. They are absolutely speechless by the encouraging comments and the incredible generosity you have all given. They are still overwhelmed by the realities of this natural disaster and will be in touch with each of u once they are able and thank u for your patience in their responses.
Until then I wanted to give u an update, offer up their heartfelt gratitude and let u know they are all staying strong and are very thankful for the many Blessings u are providing.
THE KAPLANS ENTIRE FIRST FLOOR HAD TO BE GUTTED DOWN TO THE STUDS. PLEASE SEE THE PHOTO OF THE KITCHEN BELOW. THE ENTIRE FIRST FLOOR IS LIKE THIS NOW.
Matt, Leah and a team of professionals and friends have been working non-stop to remove the water, mud, appliances, furniture, etc. to even get the home ready to be gutted. If u have tried to reach out to them and have not yet connected they ask for your patience and promise they will be in touch soon.
Due to the water damage and sewage in the floors and walls they lost EVERYTHING (including the floors and walls) in the following rooms:
-Kitchen (all appliances were damaged beyond repair)
-Front Entry Way and Large Closet
-Front Walkway and Yard
As you can see in the picture of what used to be the kitchen below, the entire first floor is like this now. Gutted down to the studs.
For a detailed list of structural specifics that need to be replaced please visit the original page.
We will also be putting some items in the "wish list" section soon if any of u may want to gift something they lost i.e. refrigerator, couch, stove, etc.
On behalf of both sides of Leah and Matt's Family and Friends, as well as Leah, Matt, Koby, AJ and pup Bailey, thanks to each of you for making these initial steps of rebuilding possible.
This will be a long journey and we are Blessed to have each of u in this with us!
