Joby has a home, keep helping plz!

Hi, I'm Olivia and I'm the mother to three (and a half) wonderful kids. Two of them are bio children--my son, Scky and my transgender son, Ciel. I also have an adopted daughter, Dakota, who came to live with us from an abusive home, and Ciel's best friend who stays over every-other-weekend. We live in Seattle, a very progressive city (for the most part).

Last night I met Joby through a Facebook group for parents of trans kids. There was a call for help, asking if anyone could take him in. He'd been kicked out of his home in North Carolina the night before, and a relative put him up for one night but after that he had nowhere else to go. While we were trying to gather resources, Joby's mother made a tenuous deal with his father to let him stay for two weeks. We have to hope his father, who is not known as a man of his word, will keep up his end and allow Joby the two weeks of amnesty he was promised.

UPDATE: We found a forever home for Joby with a trans-family. It's only 3 hours from his mom, and he's so excited.

I talked with Joby at length tonight, he has experienced hate, verbal abuse, physical abuse (that's left scars), neither of his parents will acknowledge his transition or pronouns (his father has called him 'it'), and when his father's hatred is not directed at him, it's directed at his mother.

Joby needs the money from this gofundme to land on his feet, start training Bonnie (his emotional support dog) to be a full-fledged service animal and save travel money to visit his mom. The home we've found is about three hours away from his mother's home.

I'm personally working with Joby on his resume, job skills and running this campaign; I've also offered to be a liaison to his mother. We're going to help him apply for food stamps and health insurance in Virginia, as well helping him apply for jobs he's qualified to do.

Joby deals with anxiety, depression, mild autism and an eating disorder (which he had mostly overcame, but with the continued abuse, it's recently come back). He has a lot of undiagnosed pain, and sometimes he can barely walk.  The doctors do not know what is wrong, they've run a lot of tests and they have all been inconclusive.

I can't begin to explain how important this campaign is to me, as the parent of a trans child I can't imagine if they were going through a similar situation. Your support and help will make Joby's life significantly better, you'd help put him on his path to his true self and the ability to see that it really, truly does get better.

Even if you can’t help financially, please share this page so that Joby can reach his goals. He was strong enough to reach out to us, let’s show him we’re strong enough to help.

UPDATE: I'm in love with the world right now, you all are so loving and caring. It shows that this place isn't all messed up and terrible. I love my inclusive chosen family.
