Helping V Make It In School In Wilmington, NC

Beschermde donatie
I super don't love adding to the sea of people with financial needs, but here we are. My name's Venyamina Kallista macIverra, and I'm a counseling student, social worker, community organizer, and witch. Paid and unpaid health work is essentially the crux of my life work, and the stuff that feeds my soul.

Leaving innumerable loved ones and the community I've built behind in Asheville, I moved to Wilmington for a year of grad school so that I can get licensed as a social work therapist. I thought I'd soon transition from my agency pay as a psych social worker to government student aid, but I was selected for verification for the only tax year I lack documents for, and I'm still waiting on a disbursement while the bills pile up, food dwindles, and deadlines fast approach.

If you know anything about Virgo/Scorpio people, asking for help is exceedingly hard for us. But I've been so numbed by worry lately, and unable to offer my whole heart to my counseling program yet because money concerns are so extreme.

My desperation has become such that I've been relying on dwindling family resources, driving for Lyft, supplying astrology/tarot for friends, and even calling a dangerous spirit to accelerate getting financial aid.
Helping people to feel their resiliency, flex their power, and heal themselves delights me, and I don't suck at it. I hope to become a therapist-herbalist by the time I'm 30, five years out, and I need your help to sail safely to that future.

I graduated in May 2016 with a Bachelor's in Social Work degree, was recognized with the Elizabeth Klein Social Work Award for up-and-coming social workers in May 2014, and was valorized as a Qualified Mental Health Practitioner in North Carolina after 2 years of service as a psychiatric social worker that soon became 2¾. Now, I'm currently enrolled in the School of Social Work's Master program at UNC Wilmington, which teaches from a strengths-based, solutions-focused approach to counseling.

Working from by the person-centered, intersectional tradition of Social Work, which embodies practical support of all social minorities (race/gender/ability/sexuality/class/etc.), I intend to work with people of color, minority spiritualities, queer & trans folks, working class people, and anyone who feels called to work together herbally and therapeutically.

Thanks for doing what you can, whether it's donations or shares. I have rent and more tuition due a slim 1½ weeks out.

And I just know that this journey requires naming support when I need it, so that I can continue to do my work, addressing the woundedness in the world. Appreciate y'all!
