Shelia's Story
If you know Shelia, you know that she is one of the most caring, fun-loving, and amazing women on this earth. She has demonstrated amazing strength in her lifetime and has always been there for anyone in need. She is the mother of 2 beautiful daughters and a nana to 7 grandchildren. Shelia is also the small business owner of Shear Magic, a hair and nail salon, in Vass, North Carolina.
Over the past couple of years, on top of living with diabetes, Shelia has experienced many health issues and medical treatments involving the arteries in her legs. During this time Shelia has had to endure 3 different surgeries for stents and has also had to undergo a Femoral popliteal (also called femoropopliteal or Fem-Pop) bypass surgery.
On Sunday May 26th, 2019, after her most recent surgery, Shelia's body completely shut down with a severely life threatening septic shock and fever. She was rushed to UNC Chapel Hill where they were able to get her stable. On Monday night things took a turn for the worst when Shelia's blood pressure shot sky high.
Shelia is currently in the ICU at UNC Chapel Hill and improvements have been slow....
Due to Shelia's financial stress, she has never had the opportunity to heal properly by going back to work early, and working too hard for her conditions.
We have created this page in hopes that Shelia will be able to finally heal and recover without the burden of financial stress.
