SoCal WIT chapter is sponsoring Laure-Naïveka C., to give her a voice and strengthen her opportunity for success. As the WIT Haiti Sponsorship Chair for SoCal WIT, Laura Peters was drawn to Laure for their mutual love of languages. Laura studied Romance Languages at University of Arizona and planned to be a translator. To this day, she still speaks three languages and uses them both personally and professionally. Laure is currently enrolled in a linguistics program, speaking five languages, Creole, French, English, Spanish and Portuguese. She plans to use technology to reach translation clients on a global scale, augmenting her earning potential.
Laure has made incredible sacrifices for her education, including leaving her immediate family behind to pursue her passion. She has overcome many obstacles and persevered to get where she is today. Laura admires her level of dedication and knows that when faced with the upcoming challenges of post-secondary education, Laure will indisputably rise to meet those challenges.
Perhaps the most gratifying reason Laura decided to sponsor Laure is due to her plan to use her new-found voice to lead other women into technology. By supporting one strong woman, Laura’s sponsorship will support a multitude of strong Haitian women.
