Helping Iqaluits Homeless at Xmas
Donation protected
Living in Canada's Arctic can be a challenge for anyone, but it's especially hard on the homeless. Every year a group of friends and I here in Iqaluit put together gift/care packages for people living in the local shelters and other homeless people. The bags are filled with things like shampoo, toothbrushes, feminine products, makeup, toys, food items... Anything we can get. Most of the item we put in the bags we get as donations from local people. This year we would like to include as much warm clothing as possible, hats mitts, scarves, socks... as well as new toys for the kids. The more money we can raise the better we can make the bags. We aim to make at least 40 men's, 40 women's, 20 children's and 5 baby bags. Any and all donations are very very much appreciated. Christmas is a very hard time of year for alot of people in this remote part of the country. There is alot of poverty, not enough housing and food insecurity. Please help us spread a little love and warmth this Holiday season!
