This is real life story about baby Melissa:
In a remote village in Uganda, baby Melissa was discovered earlier this year burnt from the waist down. Her mother comes from a village stricken with poverty. She went to look for food and came back to find her house on fire and her baby also on fire. Melissa suffers from serious 4th degree burns. She survived a week without any medical help. That is itself is a miracle.
Baby Melissa was rescued by a pastor of a local church, Dominic and rushed to hospital in the main city over 4 hours away. Due to severity of the burn injury, Melissa’s legs had to be amputated and she was still in hospital recovering. Soon she was discharged but had no where to go and no foreseeable future...
Melissa was 6 months old when she was discovered. Her mum is 17 years old when the father abandoned them. There is no support for them unless we do something. Despite the horrible and heart wrenching ordeal that Melissa has experienced, we envision a life of great potential for Melissa. She will grow up to be:
• Dynamic character with a big heart for the needy
• An influencer for positive change
• A sporting legend
• A wife, a mother, a provider
• A woman of faith and destiny
As the saying goes, “Live Simply So That Others May Simply Live”, a small sacrifice from us can actually produce life changing results that we can ever imagine to someone like Melissa who is struggling to survive. We implore you to support us with the vision that Melissa's story will become an inspiration and positive impact to the township and possibly the whole of Uganda. The donations collected will be used to fund for：
1. Melissa's medical fees
2. Basic living necessities like food, water and shelter for both Melissa and her mum
3. Schooling for the mum so that she can be equipped to make a living
