Helping Ali & Ben after their Car Accident

Donation protected
When Ali & Ben left British Columbia in early March, they were in search of a better and more affordable life in Ontario, where they could be closer to friends and family and be present in their loved ones' lives.

I said goodbye to my little sis when she left the West Coast, nervous about her travels over the Spring mountain passes of British Columbia and wishing with every fibre that her and Ben would arrive at their destination safely.

Once over those dangerous passes, my nervousness subsided-- they were in the homestretch now -- until I got the phone call that they had lost control of their truck on a washboard-ragged highway in Saskatchewan and were involved in a rollover that totalled their vehicle, shook them up, and destroyed the majority of their household belongings they were holding on to in order to set-up once settled in Ontario.

The two were physically okay after the accident, but Ben felt pain in his neck and they went to the hospital in Kindersley (the nearest town) for an X-Ray. The doctors found an abnormality and he was taken via ambulance to Saskatoon for a CT Scan. Ben was okay, but the ambulance bill to Saskatoon was $1300.

Ali was left in Kindersley alone to rent a car to drive back to the wreck site to collect their things. She had to put the destroyed items in garbage bags, kind passerbys stopped and asked how they could help and took loads of items to the thrift store, she prepared the items to keep for mailing, and also organized a tow truck, all while unsure of what the outcome of Ben's trip to the hospital in Saskatoon could mean.

A kind friend-of-a-friend helped Ali get to Saskatoon to see a healthy smiling Ben the next day.

We are so blessed that these angels are with us after such a scary accident, but with all of the added expenses of the ambulance, the car rental, the unexpected hotel stays and the transportation out of Saskatoon to Ontario they are left  with quite a bit of financial worry and stress, when they had left BC in the first place in hopes of saving money and making it work in a more livable part of the country.

Anyone who has met Ben & Ali knows that they would give anything to help those around them. Ali has worked  in the social work and harm reduction fields since she entered the work force. She gives everything to those around her, offering support, love and kindness to strangers and friends alike.  Ben is one of the kindest and most thoughtful human beings I have ever met. I started this campaign because I  believe Ali & Ben need support right now and are carrying a financial burden that can be lessened with the help of friends and family.

Thank you to everyone for reading this, and thank you to all the kind strangers out there who went out of their way to lighten the load for these two.

If we are each able to give a little, it would mean so much, and Ali & Ben can focus on returning their lives to normal, start rebuilding rather than focusing on how they are going to pay their bills that incurred from the accident, and feel a little less alone in this whole endeavour.

Thank you, love you.
