Urgent Help Needed: Support Georgia

Donación protegida
My dear mother Georgia is an amazing light force. She is a deeply kind, generous and proud Greek woman with SPARK. In her 50-or so years on the planet she has lived many lives, and is full of fascinating stories. She emigrated from Greece to the U.S. when she was just 13, and worked hard to earn a living and raise a daughter as a young, single mother. She has a zest for life, loves animals, the ocean and the outdoors.  She would climb trees, spend hours gardening, hiking, dancing, learning, working hard and always striving. I remember her as a woman who would not hesitate to go for a ride/adventure, break into song and dance or jump on a table and boogy at any moment!

Over the years living apart from the rest of her family back in Greece, she has endured hardship and many tragic losses, including her best friend, my father, her brother, a young nephew and step daughter, and both parents, who were back in Greece (among many other immediate family members which she had to assist with medical and funeral expenses for). She would never hesitate to give her last dime to a friend in need.
These close losses paired with her ongoing medical issues have taken their toll, and I find myself reaching out to ask the community for help.

A few years ago she suffered permanent nerve damage in her back and leg as a result of spinal surgery, and she is now permanently disabled and unable to work. The constant nerve pain has had a deep impact on her overall mental and physical health. She has a diagnosis of PTSD and depression, arthritis, osteoporosis, insomnia, complicated migraines and even had her gallbladder removed last year (her 6th surgery).  She hardly sleeps and eats very little, can’t sit or stand for more than 20 minutes, walks with a cane, and can get struck with severe nerve pain at any time, as a result she feels too vulnerable to leave the house. In two years she has only been able to make the 35 minute car trip to visit me once.

Despite all of this, she is the most selfless and giving person.  This past summer she tried to get outside to work in her garden to lift her spirits - the garden is her passion and where she comes alive. While outside, she had a “twilight” episode, fell back and hurt herself and ended up in the hospital. This incident pushed her further into a state of despair as the garden was one of her last sanctuaries.  When she does rarely attend an event or visits me, she puts on her game face, silently suffers, and then pays for it for days (literally) afterwards.

Georgia is severely depressed, overwhelmed, fearful and stuck and she has a very hard time showing weakness. This financial situation has her in total despair, she forgoes most medication and refuses therapy. She is in need of all the help, light and love she can get.  She is too proud to ask for it, even though her troubles keep her up at night to the point she is in fear of her life, stress kills. Friends and family tend to take her situation for granted, however, because she does not complain, show her pain or talk about her problems: she is very proud and has a lot of class, she is a true lady.

Thankfully she has a constant companion in my stepfather. He is 70 years old, retired, with his own set of medical issues including epilepsy.  She is very resourceful and despite cutting every corner you can imagine to try and maintain the home they worked so hard for they are now at rock bottom.

Combined, they bring in MUCH less than their basic monthly living and medical expenses and have eaten through all of their savings and funds,  I mean everything.  They are struggling and unable to make ends meet.

They are currently brining in nearly $1,000 LESS than their monthly expenses per month, including medications, food and neccessary bills to keep the roof over their head with the lights and heat on.

They bring in a combined $2,500 per month, with at least $3,500 in basic monthly expenses.  Monthly bills are about $3,300 alone NOTincluding medication, food and other minor expenses (easily $300 or more with required seizer medications, health insurance, food, etc.).  That is not including anything extra in the event of an emergency or household issue.

I am hoping to raise enough to at least pay off her current bills, become positive in her bank account and cover the next round of monthly payments that includes mortgage, gas, electricity, car, phone, food and medical expenses.  She has been fighting tooth and nail for so long, anything will help and will be met with eternal gratitude, and will help restore her faith and lift her spirits as she feels like a cast-a-way, forgotten by society.

My mom has such an amazing spirit and seeing her in this way is breaking my heart. She is aging beyond her years. Like a bird that is unable to fly. So I ask any/all of you kind souls to please send all the light, love and healing you can her way, and if you can, donations are very much needed and greatly appreciated.  The smallest dollar amount would be a gesture that would lift her up and let her know people care and she is not forgotten.

I don’t know many who are more deserving than she, and I am not saying that because she is my mom - she really is an incredible soul who I am lucky to have as a my beacon in this world.

Sometimes when we can’t lift ourselves up, we need others to help us. This means the world to me, litterally.  Thank you so much. <3

Sincerely,
Ginny
