Rally for Ed (Bowman)

Dear Friends and Family,

Some of you know our brother Ed, a wonderful, caring, serving, minister, brother and friend.  He's in a very difficult situation and we, his sisters and family are reaching out to you for your prayers and support.   This holiday season we are hoping you can help Ed and his family, please consider if you plan on giving toward some need this Christmas season perhaps  you might consider Ed and Pam.

 Below is his story...

Most of you know Ed and his family moved to Bristol, Tennessee last February after spending several years in ministry in  Texas and Louisiana. What you may not know is that Ed and Pam are both cancer survivors.  Ed had two bouts with nasopharyngeal cancer, Pam is a breast cancer survivor.  In addition to this, they care for Pam's mother Azzi and their granddaughter Bella.  Bella's dad, Josh,  works out of town and is the main financial supporter for the family.  Ed has been forced into early retirement  because of serious medical side effects from radiation treatment. To top all of this off, Josh was just recently laid off from his job.

Because of ongoing side effects from radiation treatment he has lost his voice and speaks with a rasp, he is completely deaf in one ear and has limited hearing in the other. He vision is poor and he has cataracts which effect his ability to drive, however this can be corrected with surgery.  This is just some of the medical challenges he faces and he simply is not able to work right now.

So we ask, how can God allow his children to suffer so? Especially Ed and Pam, who have ministered to so many people over the years and done so with modest pay for their efforts; humanly it’s impossible to comprehend, but the scripture tells us God uses great suffering to refine us for eternity. God works in mysterious ways. We know that ultimately God will provide for Pam and Ed, but we hurt to see them suffer so deeply with their finances.  A look into Joseph's life gives me great hope that even our trials & difficulties are working toward a greater purpose than we could ever think or imagine.

Ed & Pam know all is not lost or in vain and that the Lord has a good plan for them. It's yet to be seen just what that is and since we do not know we are asking for prayer for them as they do everything they can and yet wait for God’s full provision.

In the meantime there is rent, utilities, food, gas, insurance that is due now plus the needed immediately for $980 cataract surgery.  We have set up set this go-fund-me account for them. So if you want to give that’s great, but don’t feel bad if you can’t right now. We know God will provide with or without us, but maybe God would have us be part of the answer to their prayers.

It is important to remember it's in this place of loss where faith makes its greatest gains in our lives. Elizabeth Elliot once said, " Faith's greatest tests come not when we see nothing, but when we see a stunning array of evidence that proves our faith vain."
