Help for Juju

The evening of November 5,  my cat Juju was in an accident. While playing near a screen window the screen broke and Juju fell 3 floors onto the concrete walkway. After rushing him to the hospital the doctor told us that in addition to some scratches and bruises, he has fractured his femur.

The estimate for to pay for Juju's care is roughly $6,000 including surgery for his femur by a board-certified vet, pain medication, and tests.

Most of you who know me well know that I don't ask for help all that often. But, I'm hoping that you might be able to be there for Juju. Any little bit helps.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts and support.

Back from the vets where we got another set of x-rays and another bandage change. Nothing has shifted, however, there isn't as much bone callus on Juju's knee as she'd like to see. So, unfortunately, that means another 3 weeks of spliniting for Juju, after which time we should hopefully be able to to take the splint off and slowly get back to normal. His new bandage is purple camoflauge.

The vet has advised us to increase Juju's activity levels just a bit to help promote healing, so Juju is happily sniffing around the living room right now after a long morning.

Thanks everyone for your support. The bill climbs every time we go back to the vet (every week) but your donations help us breathe a bit easier about it.

Happy New Year to all!

Just took Juju in for his (last?) bandage change. Unfortunately this bandage color is the worst yet--pink leopard print! On the bright side, this is hopefully the last bandage he will have so the end is in sight!

Thanks everyone for your support. Every little bit helps.

Happy Holidays Juju supporters.

We took Juju in for his first post injury x-rays today. Good news and bad news. Juju unfortunately somewhere along the way broke 2 out of 3 external pins that were holding his leg in place. The surgeon says we aren't far enough in the healing process to have him go without fixation so he is now in a full split that runs his entire leg and over his back. He is doing a decent job figuring out how to maneuver on his new leg but it's pretty sad to watch him struggle again.

The good news is that the main pin holding his leg together from the inside hasn't moved and is healing. AND, the end feels much more near with only another 2-4 weeks with his splint.

Thanks so much for your support and for following and sharing Juju's story.

Thank you so much everyone for your support. Apologies for the lack of updates. I was finishing up the last few weeks of my Fall quarter at school and had several papers to write.

We just took Juju in to get his sutures removed and his bandage changed. He got a stylish new black and white spotted bandage which is a nice welcome change from his obnoxious green one, which Curtis lovingly named the "Muppet Turd." He did much better having mom and dad in the room. We did not have to sedate him and he only growled a little bit and swiped at the vets twice.

The doctors say that everything looks really good from the outside, but we won't know anything about how he's healing internally for another 3 weeks when we take him back to change the bandage again and get his x-rays.

Juju is doing ok at home. Sometimes he gets sad and sleeps in his litter box. When we let him out, he thinks he can do much more than he can. If we turn our backs for one second he is jumped up on the couch. Given the nature of his injury, this is a big no-no, so we have to keep extra watch on him to make sure he doesn't jump on anything when he's out.

Unfortunately, Juju is still struggling with a granuloma on his eye (which is what we took him to the vet for the morning OF his accident) and we will likely have to take him to the regular vet to get that checked out before the three week mark anyway.

Thanks for the well-wishes and support!
