My name is Li Fan, I'm raising money for Dali -- one of the community cats who frequent our back yard.

We've been feeding Dali and a few other community cats for the past 4 years.

They had always been quiet and peaceful. But last weekend, Dali showed up in front of our backdoor with half of his jaw dropped down, tongue’s out, and drooling excessively.

We immediately took him to the pet emergency room for a checkup because we thought he might have been poisoned. After hours of examination and blood tests, the emergency room vet told us the cause of the symptom could be because of his teeth were in extremely bad shape, and so is his gum (very swollen). They gave him fluid, antibiotic shots and anti-inflammatory medicine and released him to us.

We kept him in our house for observation and the very next day, we scheduled for him to see our regular vet. Upon examination, our vet confirmed the diagnose: Dali’s canine teeth were deformed since birth. Over the years, the misaligned canine teeth made him unable to close his mouth fully, and last weekend was the tipping point of all bad things broke lose...

Unfortunately, at this point the only solution to Dali’s problem is to extract all his teeth and restore his gum health. He’ll probably also be on soft food for the rest of his life…

We've paid for Dali's emergency room visits ($393.31). And our vet today quoted us $600-$700 for Dali's surgery for complete teeth removal. After the surgery, he'll also need soft canned food to help him properly recover.

This initial cost is a little too much for our family to swallow (we also have 6 indoor cats of our own, all adopted). But we know we are doing the right thing for Dali - Every community cat deserves a chance for a better life!

So we are asking for your donation, to help Dali quickly recover and live a long, happy life.

If there are any portion of unused donations after vet bill, they will go towards purchasing cat food for all the community cats (currently there are 8, including Dali that comes daily for food).

Thank you so very much for your help.

Yesterday we brought Dali back to the vet for the post surgery check-up. Our vet said Dali had a perfect recovery. We are really glad he is doing well, and we are also super relieved that he didn't move-away after we had to cage him 3 or 4 times last couple weeks.

This will be the last update for this campaign.

We thank you again for your generous support for Dali!

Best,
Li & ZZ

As promised, here is Dali's health update!

He did a total of 3 nights of hospital stay. He is doing very well, and the surgery went well as well.

Our vet took out 7 teeth total for him. And he is kind enough to waive some of the charges, like overnight stay, visitation fee and Antibiotic injection/pain meds for Dali.

He is having great appetite, it seems to me that he is much more happy now after the surgery than when he had his teeth problem.

I would like to thank you all again for your kind and very very generous help!

Thank you so much to all the generous folks who have contributed to Dali's medical fund!

His surgery went really well today, and he is staying overnight at the hospital so they can give him the necessary medicines.

If all goes well he'll be returning to the back yard as soon as tomorrow!

We will update his status tomorrow.
