Are you able to understand despair, beyond the understanding of words?
Who is this human being ? : Baddouh Mustapha, moroccan former miner.
I know that this guy is far away from you, guys. Doesn't speak your language. But Please, watch the video and try to hear this man's deep despair in his voice, as the language of emotions is universal. Also, please read the translation of his words bellow :
Here is a rough translation of his words:
''We can't find money to pay water.
We can't find money to pay electricity.
This is my budget." (he shows about 20 Moroccan dirhams which is about 2€)
"We don't get anything in return, we want to be able to pay.
We don't mind helping our king,
We don't mind helping our country,
We don't mind helping our economy.
But this is too much - we can't, we can't, I don't have water, I don't have electricity."
He shows the piece of coal and says : "From this we eat bread, if this ceases I won't eat.
I don't mind sacrificing myself to bring home a clean piece of bread but there is nothing now."
Translation of the subtitles : "He worked in a mining company in Morocco for 27 years.
After the closure of the company he went to work in hazardous mines.
He had to stop working since the protests in Jerada, Morocco. "
Additional Infos : The mine is located in the city of Jerada Morocco and is labeled the "mine of death". After the cessation of works at the mine, miners continued going back to get coal, this was the only thing they knew, and dedicated their lives to. However the works are hazardous, thus risking their lives for a piece of bread.
After the death of some miners on the 26th of December 2017, many have found no choice but to protest and the mines were since then under surveillance.
