Help Almost Home Get Home

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Neighbors,

As many of you know, we are a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping the poor, needy, homeless and broken. More specifically, we help single mothers, victims of domestic violence, those living on the streets and families who are experiencing true financial hardship, with strong concentration on the local homeless population.
Over the past two years we have accomplished many things and helped many of our Friends. Just a few examples of this include hosting our haircutting events at the local shelters, helping dozens of families avoid homelessness, keep their vehicles from being repossessed, and helped hundreds of families keep their water, electricity and gas running; provided countless Christmas presents, Easter baskets, back-to-school supplies and clothing and then some.

We are currently working out of Sarah's 900 square foot house that she shares with her husband and her six children. We have long outgrown the space and currently have to turn away many generous donations of clothing and household goods due to lack of space. We need to relocate our operation to a new home that will better meet our needs and allow us to expand our efforts and positive impact on the community.

We found a property located at 5730 W. 111th St in Chicago Ridge, IL. We are convinced this property is the perfect fit for us. Besides being nearly identical in appearance to the home in our logo, this property is ideal for us because of its central location to the local suburbs we serve and to the Friends we currently help. The building will also allow for a multitude of uses, namely as a Second-Hand Store in the store front portion of the building and a Day Center in the back of the building.

The Second-Hand Store will allow us to offer jobs to several of our Friends who are experiencing long term unemployment and will provide us the means to help them rebuild their skill sets, increase their confidence and add to their resumes all while they re-enter the workforce. In addition, our Second-Hand Store will be able to offer affordable clothing and household items to those who might not otherwise be able to meet some of their most basic needs.

In addition, the back portion of the building will be utilized as a Day Center to allow our Friends a place to come during the day to eat, do laundry, shower, keep a personal locker for their valuables. The Day Center will also offer a means for our Friends to eventually receive valuable assistance such as career counseling, etc.

Finally, we intend for the Second-Hand store to be our primary source of income as well as our main operating site which will provide office space and storage for our supplies for our various projects.

We hope you will consider making a donation to Almost Home Chicago so that Almost Home can move to a new home. Every single dollar counts and we greatly appreciate the support of the community in helping us further our mission "To be the hands and feet and voice of hope by providing food, clothing, shelter, jobs and love to those who need it most."

Together we will do GREAT things! Why? #becauseeveryoneneedshelpsometimes
