Support for the Dick AllGood Family

Richard (Dick) A. AllGood

Big Sky, Montana

Over the past five months Dick has experienced a number of medical setbacks causing extensive health care expenses for him and his family.  In December 2017,  Dick went to the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City for an operation to repair an iliac artery aneurysm.  We think that he contracted a bacterial infection from this operation.  The bacteria attacked his spine causing deterioration of several vertebra.  Surgery was needed to shore up the spine with one of his own ribs.  That operation was fine and seemed to work; however, he was moved from Bozeman Deaconess Hospital to long term care in Bozeman. At the long-term care facility an oxygen tube was removed which caused extensive bleeding. By the time the bleeding was discovered and confirmed he had lost several pints of blood and needed to return to the ICU in Bozeman for another week.  He was then moved to long term care in Billings. Several days later fluid filled his lungs and around his heart requiring him to be taken to the ICU at Billings Clinic.  He has been in ICU there for about a week suffering from pneumonia and fluid build-up around his heart.  Dick is a fighter which enabled him to recover from several life -threatening situations, but he has a long way to go.  Once he has recovered well enough to be removed from the ICU he has another month and a half for rehabilitation in the long-term care facility.

As of Friday May 11, the doctors discovered that the same bacteria had spread to his heart. It has damaged both his aortic valve and mitral valve.  Open heart surgery will take place either Saturday May 12 or Sunday May 13 to take care of the damage caused by the bacteria.

The Eagle has climbed many mountains and he is ready to climb this one as well.

Please keep Dick and his wonderful family in your thoughts and prayers during this next stage of surgery and his road to a full recovery!
