My name is Allen Root, I have lived, loved, and worked in San Luis Obispo, Ca. for the last 52 years. I am a master metal crafter, still viable in design and supervising complex projects, but due to the chemo regimen, I have lost my physical strength and I am not able to climb ladders or run a grinder right now.
In July of 2016, I was diagnosed with metastasized prostate cancer, with a Gleason score of 9. The cancer has established a beach head on my skull, my pelvis, several places on my spine, a lymph node, and a couple of ribs. My Urologist said "we have to get busy!" and we have. I am under the care of a naturapath and oncologists including UCLA, have alkalized my diet, and try and laugh hard every day. The chemo regimen is difficult, I am doing it, and my prognosis is very good.

As some of you know, I am the full time single dad to a bright and "parenting intensive" 16 year old daughter, am self employed, and have been very involved in my community. My chemo regimen has taken a toll on my ability to spend hours working in the shop, (not to mention spending all of my time reading most of the magazines in any of 4 medical waiting rooms over these past few months). I have some Social Security benefits coming my way and friends who graciously bring us wonderful food, but it is not enough. I am not able to keep up with paying my rent, utility bills and simple obligations; just keeping Lili in school, gas in the truck, and food in the fridge.
I will complete the chemo treatments in mid summer, and am asking for help to weather the lost work production time until then. I'm not done bringing fine architectural jewelry to our communities, I need some help until I regain my strength.
