Hey there~
Taeko McCarroll here. I've been independently developing and funding my music career for the past 4 years. I've self funded 3 singles, 1 EP, 3 music videos, 2 lyric videos, and 2 making of videos in that time span... all with my own money.
The time has finally come for me to perform my songs LIVE on Sunday Oct. 30th in this wonderful City of Angels. Because I'm a solo artists (myself and the producer I hired played all the instrumental parts on my recordings) if I want my music to sound good live I have to hire professional musicians. On top of that, since LA is such a desirable place for bands and artsits to perform its pretty much always a pay to play deal.
Because I come from the world of performing arts and I recognize how hard it is to make a living as a performing artists I always told myself, "when that day comes for me to play live, I'm going to pay my musicians. Even if it means coming out of my pocket!" So here I am, nervously and excitedly getting ready for my debuting free to the public live performance, ready to pay the $155 fee to the venue, $200 to my drummer who is also doing lots of extra work being my Musical Director, and $100 to each of the 2 guitarists I need.
Over the last few years I've had thoughts about doing a Kickstarter or GoFundMe fundraiser... But I just couldn't help but think it wasn't fair for me to ask for help for something like this... As people and especially artists, we tend to think we're not worthy, worthy of love, worthy of respect, worthy of time, worthy of money... But you know what? I've finally decided WHY NOT? Why not ask for help, and see what happens.
Any amount of donation will be charished. I know we're all out here working hard to pay our bills and live our lives so honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I will be SO grateful for any amount of support. Even if you can't afford to actually donate money and just share my page in hopes that someone else might want to help me live out a dream, I am grateful for any and all ways of support.
