Help Zaraay study Documentary&Photojournalism

I started my path in documentary photography and photojournalism since a very young age. I was only eighteen when I decided to move from Upper Egypt, where my family is based, and go to Cairo for better photojournalism opportunities.  Since then I have been financially independent, in other words I financially struggled from a young age. Especially that the situation in Egypt is not very bright economically.

I was self-taught,for almost 7 years now of hard work I have made a name in documentary. But I never had access to documentary or photojournalism education, which is something I always wanted to do but financial situation didn't allow me and it is understudied in Egypt. Now I am very glad to be accepted to Hochschule Hannover to study Photojournalism and Documentary Photography ! The program starts in March and ends in August, and I really aspire to make it! But I need financial support to sustain my stay in Germany during this time and also get my visa approved.

As a a passionate documentary photographer, I struggled to afford working on my long-term documentary project with the Nomads of Egypt. With documentary photography being very undervalued in Egypt, I had to spend on my documentary or street story telling from my own money. Besides I really want to come back with a different eye after studying and continue working on my projects. I am sure studying in the reputable  Hannover School will have a great influence on my future work. The Nomads of Egypt, The Safe House in Kenya, or all the other ongoing and future documentary projects I aspire to publish. I did not have a chance to exhibit or publish my work properly until now, mainly because I didn't have the 'know-hows'. In Hannover school, I will have high quality education of how to publish, exhibit, and curate my work. And this is something I really need to learn to allow my long term projects to finally come to light.

Spending on my projects, along with trying to be well equipped for picturesque results, kept me with little savings. And with the currency exchange rate,it is even more challenging to afford living in Europe with no financial help. Although I have been receiving assignments, freelancing and instructing workshops - this still unfortunately doesn’t make a freelance documentary photographer in Egypt financially safe.

Your help is the only way I can make it to Hannover School and study Documentary/Photojournalism. This will also  definitely has a snowball effect in my community. Because I am looking forward to share my acquired knowledge and skills with fellow documentary visual artists in Egypt when I come back. So it is only through this financial assistance that I will be able to give back my gratefulness to a promising yet under-appreciated Egyptian documentary photographers community that I am part of.

MONEY BREAKDOWN (8,000 EUROS)
- 800 Euros / per month (Visa Requiremnt * + to sustain myself for 6 month during my study stay)
- 550 Euros [Tuition Fees]
- Flights [Egypt to Germany - Roundtrip]
- Photography is a practical study, and for efficient results one should be well equipped, which I am in short of. If I were able to collect enough money, I will gladly also be able to buy the necessary photography equipments.

 السنة دي كانت مليانة أحداث كتيرة كنت بحاول أقدم دايمآ علي حاجات مختلفة لكن محصلش نصيب وكنت كتبت دا قبل كدا وعبرت عن أحباطي ولكن الحمد لله بفضل دعمكم أتشجعت وقدمت علي دراسة في مدرسة Honchschule Hanover - University of Applied Sciences and Arts

والحمد لله أتقبلت وعلشان كدا زي ما شاركت أخبار حزينة بشارك خبر كويس انا سعيد جدآ بالفرصة دي كنت مستني حاجة زي كدا من زمان لأنها فرصة هتفرق معايا جدآ لأني علمت نفسي التصوير سوا من الأنترنت أو من تجارب مختلفة فرقت معايا في الرؤية وقدرت أكون استايل خاص بيا في التصوير

فالدارسة الأكاديمية مهمة جدآ ليا لأن التصوير خارج حدود مصر أتطور جدآ
للأسف الشديد المدرسة السنة دي مش بتقدم منح للمصاريف أو المعشية.  وانا بدور علي فرص و طرق لتمويل الدارسة ومصاريف المعشية زي حملة تمويلي اللي موضحها في اللينك وغيرها من الطرق وأتمني لو حد عنده خبره في تمويل فرص دراسية يشاركها معايا.

في خلال ٧ سنين فاتوا علمت نفسي بنفسي زي ما كلنا عارفين التصوير الصحفي في مصر مش حاجه بتجيب فلوس كتير زي ما انتوا شوفتوا انا بحاول اصرف علي شغلي من خلال تصوير حاجات مختلفة عن الصحافة وأيفينات بتساعد أني اقدر أكمل شغل علي المشاريع اللي بتشغل عليها خصوصآ انها مشاريع طويلة المدي (زي توثيق حياة الرُحل العرب في مصر أو مشروع الاطفال الآيتام في كينيا اللي بيتعر
ضوا لمخاطر مستمرة ) اللي بتاخد وقت طويل زي اللي ممكن تأهلني لدراسة زي اللي اتقبلت فيها
