Help with Morgan’s recovery

On Saturday, November 4th my cousin Shawn Alter’s 4 year old daughter Morgan was in the arena at home practicing her showmanship. As Morgan led her horse a little too closely behind another horse to get to her start point, the other horse kicked at Morgan’s horse. Unfortunately Morgan was kicked in the process.

Morgan was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. She had surgery to repair a section of her bowel and had lost 2 liters of blood due to the internal injuries. She is a tough little fighter and will be recovering in ICU for a few days and will be spending at least a week overall in Children’s.

Shawn and his wife Jen have insurance but there will be a lot of out of pocket expenses, from the helicopter ride to gas and food while making trips back and forth to the hospital. They have two other children as well.

I have started this Go Fund Me to help with their out of pocket expenses. Many of you in the horse community have already reached out to me asking how you can help. I have no doubt we can meet or even exceed this goal with support from the horse community.
