Stage IV Mets Breast Cancer- Medical Expenses

Help with Medical Expenses and clinical trial for Meredith with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer  $85,000.00

Meredith is a selfless, loving, caring wife and mother of four. To know her you will agree that she is one of the most outgoing, vibrant, positive people you'll meet.  She is a strong mother, sister, daughter, wife, and friend.   She has always been a giver and has taken little or nothing in return.  She’s never asked for help and she’s always been the one to offer it to others.

In 2014 she was diagnosed with stage II Breast Cancer. She went through 18 weeks of Chemotherapy followed up by several surgeries and in 2015 she was given a clean bill of health and was told she was cancer free.

Less than 13 months later she found a lump in her armpit and went back to see the surgeon. 4 days later after extensive tests, she was told that she had Stage IV metastatic Cancer. Cancer had moved into her organs and bones. A few days later she was back in Chemotherapy. At first, cancer responded well to the treatment but Meredith started getting terrible headaches and it was soon found that cancer had moved into her brain.

In July of 2018 Meredith endured 10 treatments of Whole-Brain Radiation, and later it was found that the radiation did seem to have a positive result in shrinking the cancer lesions in her brain. Things were looking up. She continued Chemotherapy throughout all of this and was treated with some additional treatments that kept her in the infusion room 3 times a week.

Throughout all of the treatments that Meredith has had, she has always remained very optimistic and has never once complained. She has continued to run the household, play with the kids and always put everyone in front of her own needs.

To see her and talk to her you would never know she is as sick as she is. Most people with whom she comes in contact find it difficult to believe that she has cancer. She has always been cheerful and outgoing and has taken much less offered to her than what she has given in return to others. No matter how she is feeling she has never said, “No” when asked to do things for others.

To best describe her as a person (even throughout several surgeries, months of Chemotherapy, Radiation and many other countless treatments and tests), she is giving, gentle, nurturing, supportive, comforting, accepting, patient, understanding, caring, compassionate and selfless. Someone who has always sacrificed her needs for others and has always been there for those in need.

Since her first diagnosis, she has been an advocate for Breast Cancer and has been involved in fundraising events, volunteered countless hours helping both adults and children with cancer in local organizations and has become a champion for breast cancer awareness.

Meredith has continued to have treatment up until January of 2019 when she found out that her cancer was no longer responding to the treatments and all treatments were stopped. Clearly a devastating blow, but Meredith has continued to be positive and has had a great attitude about all of it- from day one right up to this very day. She is ready to beat this cancer.

A few months after the treatments were all stopped, her oncologist called and told her he had found a clinical trial with a promising drug that might help her and may help many others if it gets FDA approval.     For the past 3 weeks, Meredith has been traveling from Rochester, NY to Boston for treatments.    She will have 6 treatments in this trial which will last about 18-19 weeks.

And that’s the GREAT news!

Where Meredith now runs into a snag is that her insurance will not pay for the clinical trial.  The trial will pay for the experimental drug but will not pay for the other infusions, any tests, scans, treatment, additional drugs needed for the trial and of course travel and accommodations to Boston.   The out of pocket cost for this clinical trial is $93,000.00.   And it must be paid as she goes through treatment.  There are not options for financing through the hospital or for payment in “invoice” form.   Each treatment has to be paid for PRIOR to being administered.   This ends up being between $15,000 and $16,000 every three weeks.

To help ease the financial burden, we have set up this GoFundMe site to accept donations to help them with the extraordinary cost of this trial, all while her loving husband John and family navigate this difficult journey for Meredith.

With help from you, Meredith and her friends and family are ready to fight and beat this cancer together. Faith, hope, and love will guide us through this most difficult time. Please pray with us for healing, strength, and courage.

If you would like to donate financially to Meredith’s fight against breast cancer fund, her and her friends and family will be forever grateful. All funds raised will go towards the costs associated with the cancer diagnosis, treatment, surgery, and the unknowns on this road to fighting cancer and become a cancer survivor. If any raised funds are left over, they will gladly be donated to another local breast cancer fighter or local cancer support group.

We are asking for your support, thoughts, and prayers, and if possible a financial donation.  Whatever you feel comfortable giving WILL make a difference, and WILL be gratefully appreciated.  Please donate what you can.

If you would be willing to share this with your friends and family by sharing the link posted below and/or posting it on your social media, the family will be again, forever grateful.

Many thanks to everyone in advance for your generosity, your prayers, and support!
