What Has Happened
Mark Lewis is my brother-in-law, a husband and father of two, the breadwinner for his family, and the most gentle and loving man you could ever meet.
He was diagnosed with ‘colitis’ a few months ago, but his symptoms continued to worsen. He could not hold down food and he lost 40 pounds in the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2018. After many rounds of doctor visits, we have finally discovered the source of the issue, and it is so terrifying.
Mark has Stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to his brain and liver.
We are going to fight this, but it has come as a major shock to my sister and Mark and the whole family.
We Need Your Help
Mark is continuing to try and work, but with the cancer in his brain and his available treatment options, money may not be coming in while he is in recovery.
Please donate whatever you can. If we hit our goal, at the very least the family will have a year’s worth of living expenses covered, which would be an incredible comfort to them.
EDIT: The original goal of $30k for a year's worth of living expenses was hit in 24 hours! Per the request of donors, we are upping the goal to begin to tackle medical expenses as well. You are truly changing a family's life for the better with your donations. A breakdown of money management will be included asap, as we get a treatment plan for Mark.
Meet Mark
If you don’t know Mark personally, I can only say that he is the very best of men. He walked into Ella’s life when she was a struggling single mother of a brand new baby girl and he has been both a father and provider. Sky has known him since she could form memories, he formally adopted her and she is a complete daddy’s girl.
He is Ella’s soulmate, the love of her life.
And he is the father of baby Sol, their little miracle.
