We are friends and work colleagues of the Tasker family who are going to really need some help and support emotionally and most importantly financially. Jake was on a houseboat with friends and his girlfriend when he heard some screams, his mate was floating unconscious in the river and without thought Jake dived in to the river to save him. Unfortunately there was a sandbank below. Jake was flown to Brisbane hospital and was operated on for over 10hrs and Jakes mum, Ali was told he had broken his neck in 2 places and the likeliness of him walking again were highly unlikely. Below is the story reported in the newspaper. We are asking friends, family, colleagues and anyone who has capacity to help to donate to this page to help to relieve some stresses at this traumatic time.
UPDATE: IT HAS been revealed a 28-year-old man who sustained serious spinal injuries in the Nambucca River dove head first from a houseboat into a sand bar.
The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was tasked by Ambulance New South Wales to assist in locating the male last night around 8pm.
The house boat was eventually found near Warrell Point.
The Westpac Life Saver Helicopter Service said its crew winched into the scene a paramedic and doctor to assist in the treatment and recovery of the 28-year-old.
Due to the remote location of the scene the patient was stabilised and placed in a winch stretcher for recovery.
This recovery was performed under night vision goggles.
"The patient had suffered a suspected spinal injury that required the Westpac Helicopter to fly through to Royal Brisbane Hospital," a spokesperson for the emergency service said.
Note. There is 2 funds that have been setup to support Jake and his family. We are work colleagues of Jake's mum, Ali and are raising money through our work colleagues, friends and family and the other was setup by a member of Jake's family, we are both reaching out to each demographic with the same goal in mind, to raise as much funds as possible for what will be a very long road ahead and would appreciate any support to either fund.
